Planning statement of intent *
statement of intent approx. 500 words for both video and web design linked to media framework. (LIAR)
Music video
Music video
Media Representation
In my music video I plan on using Hebrides theory to represent young people. The main characters will be predominantly black and young, illegal activity will be implied allowing the viewer to have a stereotypical view on black young males. Alvarado’s theory on the representation of black people will also be incorporated into my music video as shots of them having fun, laughing, dancing and enjoying themselves will also be used showcase the audience that they can be exotic, comedic.
Media Language
Media language will be used as I will be telling a sort of narrative throughout the music video (Todorov). This will detail the events of the earlier life of an adult so I also plan on using colours to signify different periods of time with his younger life being brighter and lighthearted and his older life being set primarily in dark lit scenes to imply the wrong doings he ends up getting involved in. Todorov’s narrative theory will be reflected through the colours, body language, mise en scene sound and camera work, this will be achieved as some scenes depicted will be deliberately shot making someone look small/tall.
Media Audience
My media audience are aged between 16 – 25 and in category AB. It may be more relevant to younger black males as a lot of the actors fit that description so it may be more relatable to that group of viewers. However, the overall narrative of the arc of the story can be applied to and anyone. (Socio-economic) actors will be permitted to wear casual clothing such as tracksuits or jeans to appeal more to the working class as that is the class, I am a part of.
Media Industry
(Intertextuality) I will include a lot of intertextual links in my music video on police brutality etc., towards black people as reference to the ‘black lives matter’ movement. I plan on trying to get shots of police cars and implied violence. The main actor will be wearing designer branding. I will have opening/closing credits. My opening and closing credits will consist of the actor's videographer director and producer. I then used the premiere pro software to edit all the shots I had taken and add any necessary effects. (Neal's) theory on gene conventions has also been reflected through my repeated themes of gang violence within the shots. (Godwin’s) theory will be reflected through the visuals and illustration of a music video as they will match up with the music and the beat. The editing will be directly be in relation to the beat.
Website
Media Representation
within my website design I plan on using Hebrides theory on represent young people as i will have one of my actors be the face and background of the first page of the website. The pictures and background of the first page will be dark and showcase one of the actors looking down on a dark street allowing the viewer to have a stereotypical view on black young males as this pictures adds a sense of mystery and enigma which could play into the stereotype of young people being fun and troublesome. Alvarado’s theory on the representation of black people will also be incorporated into my website as on the second page will be more light hearted as a picture of another actor/artist will be used as the background in which the tone has a warmer glow as the model will have a more happy expression on there face amongst a sunset.
Media Language
Media language will be used as I will be telling a sort of narrative through the images on my website in relation to my music video. (Todorov). I plan on doing this by having the first page reflect the young adult life as it is dark and gloomy which is similar to the music video as the tone of the video changes when the scenes of the adult appear to show the way his life is going in this period of time. The second page will then be directly contrasting the first page as we see the younger actor in a more appropriately lit area possibly showing the joys of youth before adulthood hits. His younger life is brighter and light hearted and his older life being set primarily in dark lit scenes to imply the wrong doings he ends up getting involved in. Todorov’s narrative theory will be reflected through the colours, body language, mise en scene sound and camera work, this will be achieved as some of the pictures depicted will be deliberately shot making someone look small/tall. Construction - website final design *
Screenshot and description of the steps involved in website construction, including layout design, choice of font, font colour and text hierarchy, links to other sites e.g. social media, record label, etc
COLOUR - I have decided to change my font colour scheme into white and yellow to match it to my music video font. The main colour scheme on the first page is fairly dark due to the fact that used pictures of one of the artist shot at night to add a more mature feel. I feel dark colours along with the contrast of the yellow font fits the brand much more effectively and is now much more convincing and professional.
The second page i used a different picture of younger artist (being me). But this time the picture has brighter and more vibrant colours as well as the picture of the artist looking happy in comparison to the artist in the previous page.
In my second page i decided to have brighter more vibrant colours to contrast the first page to add a dynamic feel of tone as well as appeal to the younger and perhaps female audience.
FONT - I chose a serif font due to the fact that it appears more traditional and formal, also looking sharp and adding to the idea that the music video is serious and mature. It is similar to the 'courier' font which is used in my music video, therefore this creates a sense of branding across the music video and the website.
I used the exact same colour and font on my text on my website and music video which was 'Rosewood' with a yellow colour scheme to show the connectivity between my website and music video.
IMAGES - I chose certain images on my website due to the fact that I wanted it to appear as though they are professional artist but with a personal touch. Young people nowadays enjoy being able to relate and interact with people they like (which is why YouTubers are so successful) therefore I wanted to create a sense of family rather than the idea that they are just friends.
I included a photo of my artist within a street as this creates an element of 'behind the scenes' and can therefore make the audience feel that they are getting a deeper insight into the making of the album, possibly building more excitement too.
I also hosted a mini photo shoot as I wanted to use a high quality image to create a sense of professionalism, and therefore it presents them as a successful artist who has been in photo shoots. In this image there is no direct address which is important as it still keeps it informal. However in the other image on the next page there is to add contrast.
I copied and pasted the same title that i used in my music video in my website to add that extra bit of connectivity between the two media forms.
LAYOUT - i chose to have multiple areas of the website be a button onto the next page to increase accessibility.
for example all of the logos are links unto the next page and vice versa.
I kept similar themes, colours and tone from my music video to my second page as the use of the rosewood font and yellow colour is a repeating themes throughout as it is vibrant and stands out.
The bottom of the page has the necessary social media platforms with links to actual social media accounts for any audiences who are more curious and want to get a more in depth perception of the artists. i also incorporated a button in which allows viewers to quickly go to the top of the page if the click the button to help fasten the traversability of the web page.
Implementing the final music video was important as i wanted it to be on the first page so it is the first thing that audiences notice when the scroll down so it stands out and can be easily access through the website as oppose to audiences having to go all the way to youtube to view it.
I also made some trailers, which appear on the second page, for upcoming project from the team to engage audiences into the future of the brand. These self made trailers consist of 2 music videos that could potentially get released by the artist who are apart of the group.

Construction - music video editing *
screenshots and description of steps involved in video editing.
I added a slight amount of brightness in order to enhance the white in the dark parts of the scene.
I felt this looked more dream-like and emphasises the soft box lighting that was used while filming.
A blue tint made a great difference, especially due to the key frames which meant that it gets less blue as time goes on. I wanted to do this so that there is clear progression until the end where everything is bright again - almost like a new equilibrium.
For this clip I wanted to use the three way colour corrector to make the image warmer, to represent a happier time and create a huge contrast.
A slight blur was applied because this makes it stand out more as a flashback rather than current time.
COLOUR CORRECTION
I added a slight amount of brightness in order to enhance the white in the dark parts of the scene.

Using three way colour corrector was beneficial as it allowed me to create a cold tone. Blue's are emphasised in order to show the sadness and nostalgia.
Luma curve helped to adjust the brightness and contrast levels even further and I felt it had a big effect on the dream-like appearance that music videos should typically have according to theorists such as Kinder and Rubin.

FLASHBACKS
I also edited flashback scenes in a dream-like way to separate them from the rest of the video.
In this scene i used an effect called warp stabiliser to give the illusion that the camera is steady and not shaking as much as it actually was.
i edited my cuts to be within the same time as the beat, this added a necessary tempo to the music video.
A slight blur was applied because this makes it stand out more as a flashback rather than current time.
I also decided to add a slow motion effect to match the tone of the music that is playing in the background.
I also decide to make the scene in which there is no music playing and the character on screen is just acting to be grey to signify the change in artistic tone and direction throughout the rest of the video.
