Research - Timed analysis music video

  • 0:00 - 0:10
Opening credits are blurred with a discolouration effect on it to add to the; trippy visuals are used as two car lights illuminate the background matching the aesthetic of the music video. An anonymous woman is seen walking toward the cars in slow motion, a contrast to the title of the song which is 'fast'.
  • 0:11 - 0:18
Mid shot of the artist illuminated in red lighting with hints of green. Camera angle is titled further implying the use of drugs as the audience is looking through the lens of a drug user through the camera due to its' 'trippy' visuals.
  • 0:18 - 0:20
Shots of sports car driving as lyrics repeat the word 'fast' visual links into the lyrics. a lot of flashing lights are reflecting against the car almost adding a mythical  sense and mysterious atmosphere as we the viewer are not clear on where this is taking place, possibly his mind.
  • 0:20 - 0:30
Flashing images of women revealing her body in silhouette form to appeal to the main stream western audience.
  • 0:30 - 0:39
Lyrics 'i took too many pills' plays as visuals begin to get wavy and distorted. Artist is now lit by a blue light with close up shots showing his eyes rolling back heavily implicating drug use.
  • 0:39 - 0:49
We see the artist in a car racing an anonymous character who could possibly symbolise battling and racing against his inner demon. the edits begin to become faster here
  • 0:49 - 1:00
A giant women dressed in all whites she's arched in a sexual position (adding sex appeal to appeal to the western audience) as well as possibly symbolising God watching over him throughout his drug trip as he's living 'fast' the camera angle makes her out to be a powerful being as he's in his car watching her. the lighting now shifts primarily to a bright white and blue colour in contrast to the red at the begging contrasting between death and destruction and angelic.
  • 1:01 - 1:30
Fast pace shots of the two cars racing with flashing lights and the large women still looking over them both as the lyrics continue to state ' I've been living fast fast fast fast'.
  • 1:30 - 1:40
Lighting then switches back to the red as lyrics state 'i'm still sad as a bitch, right'. I believe the lighting represents the mood swings the artist is going through.
  • 1:40 - 1:50
Visuals begin to get progressively more distorted, different camera angle slowly pans closer to women dressed in white to add more focus to her.
  • 1:50 - 2.05
Artist over takes the anonymous racer, edits and camera movement as well as pace of song quicken progressively getting 'faster'.
  • 2.05 - 2.13
Explosions are seen in the background as we see artist falling back onto them, lighting is primarily red here, possible symbolising how he feels when he has a mental breakdown.
  • 2:40 - 2:50
The speed of the song slows down and the instruments stop playing, this could convey that when he takes time and slow down is when his life improves as the camera then pans from above to reveal 3 of the mysterious lady dressed in white with more vibrant bright colours now illuminating the scene.
  • 3:00 - 3:10
The vehicle goes too fast and ends up crashing with fast montage edits of distorted visuals of the artist loosing control mentally and physically as more explosions are seen within the montage before coming to a complete halt. A lot of the visuals are CGI and cartoonish when hes in the car.
  • 3:10 - 3.20
Final shot is a long shot of a slow motion shot of him riding the car for spectacle as there another explosion in the back
